چکیده

Background Left ventricular ejection fraction (EF) is a strong prognostic marker for clinical outcome after ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). In clinical practice echocardiography is most commonly used to assess EF, although cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMR) might have higher accuracy. However, it remains unclear if measuring EF by CMR in comparison to echocardiography provides incremental prognostic information for the assessment of long-term outcome in patients with STEMI.

Impact of CMR parameters on prognosis after ST-elevation myocardial infarction - a comparison to traditional outcome markers

Background Infarct size, microvascular obstruction (MO) and the myocardial salvage index (MSI) assessed by cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMR) have been shown to be associated with adverse clinical outcome. However, in daily clinical routine prognosis after STEMI is evaluated using simple assessable parameters such as ST-segment resolution, enzymatic infarct size, preand post-PCI TIMI-flow...

Relationship between Late Gadolinium Enhancement Extent in Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Severity of Coronary Artery Disease in Old Myocardial Infarction

Purpose: To assess the relationship between the severity of coronary arteries involvement and the extent and pattern of myocardial scars in Cardiac Magnetic Resonance of patients with history of remote myocardial infarction. Materials and Methods: The Cardiac Magnetic Resonance images of sixty patients with history of remote ST segment or non-ST segment elevation myocardial infarction were ...

Prognosis after ST-elevation myocardial infarction: a study on cardiac magnetic resonance imaging versus clinical routine

BACKGROUND This study aimed to evaluate the incremental prognostic value of infarct size, microvascular obstruction (MO), myocardial salvage index (MSI), and left ventricular ejection fraction (LV-EFCMR) assessed by cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMR) in comparison to traditional outcome markers in patients with ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) reperfused by primary percutaneous ...

Cardiac magnetic resonance evaluation of edema after ST-elevation acute myocardial infarction.

INTRODUCTION AND OBJECTIVES The aims of the study were to characterize myocardial edema after ST-elevation acute myocardial infarction using cardiac magnetic resonance imaging and to investigate its impact on ventricular function and its subsequent evolution. METHODS In total, 134 patients admitted to hospital for a first ST-elevation myocardial infarction who had a patent infarct-related art...

Comprehensive right heart systolic function assessment using cardiac magnetic resonance imaging after inferior ST elevation myocardial infarction

Background Acute Inferior ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction (Ac-Inf-STEMI) and associated posterior and right ventricular (RV) infarction has been extensively studied with electrophysiology and echocardiography. A recent CMR study showed that poor RV function was associated with poor long term survival post myocardial infarction. However, limited CMR data exists especially on short term clinic...
